Melinda Challener

Hi! I am Melinda Challener. This is my third year at McConnell in kindergarten. I have taught kindergarten for fourteen years and have had a chance to try all the other grades except fifth. Kindergarten is my favorite because they are so excited about school and eager to learn anything and everything.
I graduated from The College of William and Mary with a BA in elementary education. I have a Masters degree in Children's Literature from Simmons College in Boston.
I live on Signal Mountain where my husband and I raised our three children. Brandon is living in Boston, Skye is in Seattle, and Cody is here in Chattanooga.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in the eighth grade and it has been my passion ever since. Young minds are so fascinating and I feel so lucky that I have the opportunity every year to learn more about the best way to teach those eager minds.
