Hello My Name Is...
Erin Thurmond
Hi! Welcome to Second Grade!
A little about me: I was born and raised in Nolensville, Tennessee. For as long as I can remember, I knew I was called to be an elementary teacher. After my high school graduation, I moved to Chattanooga, TN to pursue my degree to fulfill my dream. I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I then began the process to obtain my Master's Degree during my first year of teaching. In May 2016 I received that Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Carson-Newman University.
This is my 6th year teaching, but my first year at McConnell! For the last 5 years, I taught 1st grade at Bess T Shepherd. I am thrilled to be a Mustang now though!
Outside of school, my passions are spending time with my family (my husband and 2 boys-whether we are going on an adventure or I'm just watching them play ball), getting together with my small group from church, and volunteering in the Children's Department at Dallas Bay Church.
A few of my favorite things: I LOVE Dr. Pepper, Mexican food (specifically cheese dip), Reese's (or really anything with chocolate and peanut butter), the color blue (any and every shade of it), country or Christian music, and silly reality TV shows (We are big "Survivor" fans in the Thurmond House!)
I look forward to a Spectacular year with your lovely Second Graders!
